Zelienople Historical Society Research Service

As a small non-profit facility, the ZHS staff has a limited amount of time to devote to research services. Most research is conducted by volunteers. Requests are answered in the order in which they are received and as time permits.

The Zelienople Historical Society offers two ways to conduct research:

On Site
The Lester Mohr Library is available for historical and genealogical research by appointment only. Please call 724-452-9457 to make arrangements. Members may use the Library at no cost; non-members pay a $10 per hour fee.

Copies cost 50 cents per page. Scans are $1 each and may be emailed or saved to your flash drive.

* Appointments are required. The staff is rarely able to accommodate drop-ins.
* Please refrain from eating, drinking, gum chewing, or smoking.
* Researchers are required to sign in and out and must store all bags.
* You must have written permission to use ZHS owned images or photographs of objects in our collections. There may be a fee.

Via correspondence
If you prefer that we do the research, please send a detailed research request to ZHS, 243 S. Main St., Zelienople, PA 16063. Please indicate clearly what information is being sought, as well as any information you already have. All requests must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope and a $10 check or money order. No request can be processed without the written request, the SASE, and the fee.

The fee for historical or genealogical research is $10 per hour with a one hour minimum. Your $10 will be considered a deposit if more research is necessary. If your research requires more than one hour, the researcher will contact you with an estimate of additional hours necessary, and the remaining hours will be billed if you choose to continue the research. The fee applies to members and non-members.
